Grass Roots: Job cuts went 'too far'

Grass Roots' new managing director of meetings and events, Des McLaughlin, has said that recent job cuts went 'too far' and the group will be recruiting across the next 12 months.

McLaughlin, who was recently promoted to Grass Roots' events division, will be helping to oversee the division's restructure to ensure it is operating seamlessly as one legal entity by early 2014.

Talking exclusively to C&IT, McLaughlin said: "There are no more redundancies planned at Grass Roots. I think the job cuts in event management went too far. We are understaffed in some areas and we will be adding staff into key positions in year one. We aim to grow the business in terms of numbers and profit."

Grass Roots is undergoing a restructure following a number of job cuts at its Marlow office in March this year.
