Lyon: best new hotel developments

C&IT checks out new and upcoming hotels in the French city of Lyon.

Mama Shelter: Opened in March this year, the 156-room Mama Shelter follows the opening of sister properties in Paris in 2008, Marseille in 2012 and Istanbul in 2013. The property, designed by Philip Starck, is located in the Place Jean Macé district and has several meeting spaces, catering for between 35 to 100 guests.

Canabae: This four-star floating hotel, the world's first floating city hotel, will be located on the River Rhône and is set to open next year, offering 16 rooms with a boutique feel.

Former site of Hotel Dieu: InterContinental Hotels Group is planning to open a five-star, 140-room property on the site of the former Hotel Dieu. The property is expected to be completed by 2016, with plans for a 3,000 metre square convention centre and auditorium that can seat up to 300.

Hotel Carlton Lyon: Part of the MGallery brand, the 80-room property, located close to the Opera and the Theatre des Celestins, offers two meeting rooms, accommodating between 8 and 16 people. The hotel also has a spa, pool and fitness area.
