The agency, entering its tenth year, had a year to March turnover of £8.63m, up from £5.9m and a profit of £872,000, from £236,000.

Rick Stainton, Smyle’s managing director, said: "We are really pleased with these figures and have focused on a profitable and responsible business, not simply chasing turnover, which is never a true measure of sustainable performance. As a team we are ahead of our plan in terms of where we expected to be at this point as a business.

"We are now building for the future with the introduction of some new roles as well as significant equipment and infrastructure investment alongside growing our main office space. We are really excited about the next few years as we develop our new strategic business plans."

Smyle has clients including Citroen and Peugeot.
