International Festival for Business launches major recruitment drive

Clarion Events and Montgomery Exhibitions, organisers of Liverpool's International Festival for Business 2014, have appointed Karen Taylor and Locog's Lisa Campagnola to senior positions, with plans to hire a further 20 events staff.

The International Festival for Business (IFB) 2014 is taking place in Liverpool over 61 days in June and July 2014. More than 50 events have already been confirmed and around 250,000 delegates are expected to visit, generating more than £100m for the local economy.

Recent appointments include Karen Taylor, who is heading up the commercial arm on the Montgomery side, where she is non-executive director.

She joins James Gower, who leads from the Clarion camp as commercial director. Clarion Events joined forces with Montgomery earlier this year to form Event and Exhibition Partners (EEP).

Other appointments include Lisa Campagnola, who has been recruited as events manager, having worked at Locog where she was part of the team responsible for hiring and training 70,000 Games Makers at the London Olympics.

Charlotte Gooch, formerly events director at Guardian Media Group, will be looking after content and media partnerships, including the festival's conferences.

Simon Burton of Exposure Communications has been brought in to bring existing conferences and events to Liverpool and is now focusing on the creation of new events.

Phil Keith joins as account manager recruiting events to the festival, with publishing and events experience gained in the travel and leisure sectors.

Montgomery's head of marketing Jon Squire is leading on marcomms for the project, working with a growing team of partners and external agencies.

The EEP is now embarking on a recruitment drive to hire a further 20 events and sales staff to coincide with the next phase of the festival’s ambitious expansion plans, soon to be announced at its official launch gala dinner on June 27, following Accelerate 2013 in Liverpool.

Taylor said: "We have developed a raft of exciting content for the festival, both established events and exciting new formats. It’s important now that we have a functional team of event and sales managers in place to run the projects and ensure the delivery matches the scale of our ambition."

More information is available on the IFB 2014 website  and anyone interested in joining the team should contact Michelle Simpson via email or telephone on +44 (0)207 384 8192.
