Lloyds Banking Group has confirmed to C&IT that no events staff have been affected in the recent job cuts, in which 850 staff face redundancy.

The banking giant, which encompasses brands including Halifax, Cheltenham & Gloucester and Intelligent Finance, said the recent cuts will affect departments including fraud, but not the events team.

The news comes after Lloyds Banking Group's head of group events Karen Sawyer last year said that she expects event numbers and event spend to be reduced at the company, in line with financial pressures in the banking sector.

The group put a new event roster in place at the end of last year for which agencies including DRP Group are understood to have re-pitched for, although Lloyds declined to comment on specifics.

Lloyds Banking Group is making ongoing job cuts, with a total of 2,750 losses expected this year in the UK. The company said it is working carefully to ensure the cuts are handled sensitively, adding that during 2012, around only a third of role reductions led to people leaving the group through redundancy.
