Lord's Cricket Ground set for £200m redevelopment

The MCC yesterday unveiled plans for a £200m, 15-year redevelopment that will make Lord's 'the finest cricket ground in the world'.

The proposed redevelopment of Lord's Cricket Ground will involve several phases over the 15-year time period, with £90m of work set to begin next year involving two new stands and a revamp of the Warner Stand. Overall capacity of the ground will rise by 2,700 to 32,000.

Jon Robinson, MCC Assistant Secretary (Marketing & Catering) said: "With a history dating back to 1814, Lord’s is one of the oldest sporting venues in the world to offer guests corporate hospitality, alongside presenting a unique collection of meetings and event spaces. A key component of the new Masterplan is to further enhance this offering, in particular through the development of more pitch-facing facilities on the Main and Nursery Ground.

"The MCC meetings and events and hospitality service is a world-class operation, and the Masterplan for the development of Lord’s from 2014-2027 will reinforce this status."

The news comes soon after London's other main cricket ground, the Kia Oval, launched its new Corinthian Roof Terrace event space last week.
