The A List 2013: Kate Rook, MCI UK

Kate Rook, 27, is senior project manager at MCI UK

Kate worked in Italy as an event assistant for a cultural association, joining MCI UK in 2007.

Boss says: "Kate thoroughly deserves her A List recognition, not just for her delivery over the past year, but also for her contribution to MCI during her career. Challenges are taken in her stride," says Martin Richardson, director of meetings and events at MCI Group.

Career high: A highly commended award at the IVCA (International Visual Communications Association) awards for the Burger King EMEA Convention. I was project director for this in September 2012.

Worst event moment: The ash cloud was definitely a low moment, I was in Barcelona with a group and had to coach people across various locations in Europe.

I wish I'd run: A creative fashion show at London Fashion Week.

Alternative career: Either a journalist or a graphic designer; as a kid I wanted to be a secret agent or spy.
Next step: Progress to account director.
