Brisbane hotels target C&I sector

Brisbane's hotels are experiencing strong growth, with more than £61m ($AU88.5m) spent on refurbishments and upgrades in the last year and a further £25m ($AU36m) in the pipeline for this year.

This is according to the Queensland Hotels Association (QHA). Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said that the figures reflect confidence in the Brisbane market and its ability to cater for growing numbers of domestic and international visitors coming as tourists or business travellers.

"By having high-quality hotels on offer with state-of-the-art rooms and conference facilities, Brisbane can effortlessly cater for any type of visitor or major event," he said.

He added that "conventions bring some of the world’s most skilled talent and investors to our city and delegates spend on average five times more than leisure tourism visitors, so it is a priority for Brisbane hotels to cater for this market."
