Unispace Sunderland says it has grown revenue by 20% since launching to the UK and international C&I market at Confex last year.

The venue, which began targeting the corporate event market at Confex in 2012, claims it is driving 40% of the Sunderland area's business tourism revenue. It added that year-on-year business from the pharmaceutical sector was up 70%, while residential events were up 30%.

Since last March, Unispace has hosted business and association events, including the North East Press Awards, the British Pharmaceutical Students’ Association annual conference and the televised Pre Election Special Debate.

Sharon Olver, Unispace’s commercial services manager, said: "The last 12 months have been both busy and exciting for the team and I and we are delighted that we can report a substantial increase in business.

"We have worked hard to establish Unispace as a trusted brand in a relatively short period of time, focusing on high quality customer service and unique incentives designed to add value to client events."

Olver added that bookings for forthcoming events are strong.
