Samsung invited press, clients and staff to the launch, which featured the new Android model, a rival to Apple's iPhone 5. The product features eye-tracking technology and a Super Amoled HD screen.

The presentation featured a large projected image of the new model, which was introduced by the company's president JK Shin.

The launch was promoted with billboards and S4-branded dancers on the streets of New York.

Samsung recently launched its Galaxy Note 8.0 at Mobile World Congress.
