This is according to Neil Brownlee, head of VisitScotland's Business Tourism Unit. ""2013 is a massive year for Scotland with a plethora of things to see and do and a host of events to participate in across the country, all under the banner of Year of Natural Scotland," he said.
The country is renowned for its natural heritage roots and 2013 is the Year of Natural Scotland. VisitScotland aims to combine this theme with its business product offering. It wants to identify key business opportunities with natural messaging,with everything from food and drink, CSR, outdoor incentive programmes and social itineraries including culture and sport accommodated for.
Scotland beat seven destinations to the award, including Amsterdam, Colombia, Slovakia and Morocco and rated above other "trending" locations for 2013 from Montenegro, New Zealand, Miami and Japan.
