Business visits up 11% in record November for Britain

Visit Britain has welcomed Office of National Statistics figures showing an 11% rise in business visits to Britain in November 2012.

Official figures released today (10 January) reveal that Britain has recorded its best November for business visits since 2007, with 720,000 visitors.

The 2012 year to date figures (January to November) show 6.85m business visits, compared to 6.76m for the same period in 2011.
 
November saw growth from nearly all the regions in the world. On average the whole of Europe saw a 10% rise with visits from the rest of the world up 12% (apart from North America).
 
Patricia Yates, director of strategy at Visit Britain said: "To have the best November in five years is some achievement as 2012 was no ordinary year for inbound tourism."
 
Full year figures are expected soon.
