C&IT anonymously surveyed 170 corporate and agency event planners, with more than half revealing they are looking for a new job in 2013, despite the uncertain economic climate.

In addition to the 54% looking for a new role, another 2% said they already have a new job lined up and 7% stated that while they are not actively looking, they are keeping their options open and would be amenable to offers.

The overwhelming motivation for respondents wanting to move is to boost salary.

Almost half of those surveyed (47%) said a salary increase was a key reason for moving, 24% said they feel it is time to move on, 21% want to move to get a promotion and 19% said location was a key factor.

Other reasons given included a change to working hours (7%), issues with their current company or working conditions (10%) and a desire for better training opportunities (7%).

When asked whether the economic climate had kept them at their current company longer than expected, a third (33%) of respondents said yes.
