Top sporting events come to UK in 2013

C&IT highlights the best sport being hosted in Britain and Ireland this coming year with it's 2013 calendar of sporting events

As we say goodbye to a golden sporting year for Great Britain in 2012, there is still plenty to look forward to for event and corporate hospitality planners, with a rich programme of sports events scheduled to take place in the UK and Ireland in 2013.

As well as the usual annual highlights, special events coming to our shores include The Ashes cricket, rowing and rugby league World Cups, Heineken Cup Final rugby and the second Champions League Final in three years to be staged at Wembley Stadium. C&IT presents its calendar of major sporting events, 2013:

2 Feb-16 March: rugby – Six Nations, Twickenham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Dublin, Paris, Rome
24 Feb: football – Capital One Cup Final, Wembley
12-15 March: horse racing – Cheltenham Festival
31 March: rowing – The Boat Race, London
6 April: horse racing – Grand National, Aintree
21 April: athletics – London Marathon
10-12 May: basketball – Euroleague Final Four, The 02
11 May: football – FA Cup Final, Wembley
18 May: rugby – Heineken Cup Final, Dublin
25 May: football – Champions League Final, Wembley
25 May: rugby – Premiership Final, Twickenham
1 June: horse racing – The Derby, Epsom
8-23 June: cricket – ICC Champions Trophy, Cardiff, Edgbaston, The Kia Oval
18-22 June: horse racing – Royal Ascot
21-23 June: rowing – World Cup, Eton Dorney
24 June-7 July: tennis – The Championships, Wimbledon
30 June: Formula One – British Grand Prix, Silverstone
3-7 July: rowing – Henley Royal Regatta, Henley
5-7 July: motor racing – Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood
10 July-25 August: cricket – The Ashes, Trent Bridge, Lord's, Old Trafford, Chester-Le-Street, The Kia Oval
18-21 July: golf – The Open Championship, Muirfield
