BVEP's chairman Michael Hirst (pictured) told C&IT that the APPG, headed by Nick de Bois, is looking to work with Britain for Events to draw up a list of names for the inquiry.

"I would like to see a broad list of representatives from the industry including PCOs, venues and buyers," he added.

The industry representatives would be asked to present their case as to how the government can work better to support their sector.

Senior staff from organisations including MPI, Excel, Zibrant and the NEC have been touted for involvement in the initiative.

The meeting is billed for early 2013, with findings from the sessions set to be discussed at International Confex in March. No date has been set for the presentation in Parliament.
