MICE visitors are expected to rise from 750,000 in 2012, to 792,000 in 2013, the bureau said, with European delegates set to rise from an estimated 86,808 to 91,148 for the same period.

The UK is Thailand´s third largest European market for MICE, while global wins include a 16,000-delegate event for Amway China in April, and a Pro Health China event for 10,000 delegates in November.

Upcoming events include a Nu Skin event for 3,500 delegates in April, and the 18,000-delegate Herbalife Extravaganza in June.

Sustainability

The bureau has also launched an incentive initiative to encourage sustainable events in Thailand.

Groups of more than 1,000 delegates staying for at least three nights can receive benefits for taking eco-friendly measures such as using a certified green venue.
