The country received around 170,000 C&I visitors in 2011, and the 2012 figure is expected to be in line with overall tourism growth of 10% for the year, said Amanda Kotze-Nhlapo, executive manager of the bureau.
New developments expected to help attract C&I business include the expansion of the Cape Town International Convention Centre and Sun International's new convention centre, set to open at Port Elizabeth´s Boardwalk complex in December.
"We have won 115 association meetings for the next five years, with around 150,000 delegates," said Kotze-Nhlapo.
"Our biggest challenge is to outsmart when it comes to budget. Our Budget is one third of what a city like Melbourne has so it´s important we work together as an industry."
Association business will also be a key target for South Africa, with Meetings Africa hosting around 50 African associations in February. The event will also see the launch of a association day.
