GaryDavis, chief executive of Malmaison Holdings, said the business was seeking a site in the city and had earmarked £5m for the development, which it plans to open within the next three years. Hotel du Vin is traditionally based in older buildings.
The company is also refurbishing the 167-room Malmaison Manchester. Renovations will start in February next year and include an upgrade to 75 bedrooms and the creation of a café and late-night bar.
Parent company MWB Group Holdings recently appointed an administrator to its business, but Malmaison Holdings says this has not affected the business.
