IBTM India is set to take place on 12-14 September 2013 and will include around 100 hosted buyers and 100 exhibitors meeting in a "matchmaking" style event.

Unveiling the plans at EIBTM in Barcelona today (27 November), Reed Travel Exhibitions meetings and events portfolio non-executive chairman Eric Rozenberg said it was part of a strategy to explore "country-focused events".

IBTM India will be held at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai and becomes the seventh event in the RTE portfolio, which includes AIBTM in Chicago, CIBTM in Beijing, GIBTM in Abu Dhabi and AIME in Melbourne, Australia, and Business Travel Market in London.

EIBTM exhibition director Graeme Barnett said the show would provide the "opportunity to access new market places and bring buyers and suppliers together in a different format".

Meanwhile, Reed managing director Richard Mortimore added the plan was to expand further in the coming two years.

"There are other areas of the world in which we could look for growth and over the next 18 months to two years there are a couple of markets we can target, on which work is underway," he said.

Barnett also announced the EIBTM show would remain in Barcelona until 2016, following agreement with the city signed at today´s show.
