Siemens’ City of London account director Kevin Worster will be among speakers at the event on 24 January 2013.

Other speakers confirmed for the event at the Siemens Crystal venue in east London include former London 2012 head of sustainability David Stubbs and representatives from Cisco and Sport Accord.

Worster said: "For Siemens, sustainability means acting responsibly on behalf of future generations in order to achieve economic, environmental and social progress.

"We look forward to sharing our experience with other sustainability leaders at The Sustainable Event Summit."

Meanwhile, Stubbs added: "I have had unique insight into the growing importance of sustainability in the event industry and look forward to sharing my experience of supporting projects."

Sustainable Events Summit support

The new Sustainable Events Summit model was launched this autumn with a partnership between agencies Smyle and Sustainable Events.

Other supporters now confirmed for the Sustainable Events Summit include Capita – which incorporates BSI and Venues Event Management – which has joined as a founding partner.

The Business Visits and Events Partnership has also been confirmed as a sponsor while ICCA and Britain for Events have joined as summit supporters.

Collaborative approach

Summit co-founder Rick Stainton, managing director of Smyle, said: "The breadth of official support for the summit from the key associations, agencies, venues and the supplier base across all sectors of the industry demonstrates that initiatives that encourage a collaborative approach can engage at all levels.

"Now we have the first brands announced with more to follow shortly, the Summit community’s representation across the entire live events industry becomes a reality, powering better understanding, innovation and education to all."
