Buyers opt for emerging destinations, says C&IT survey

Almost a quarter of event planners say up to half of the destinations they pitch in 2013 will be for the first time, according to a new survey by C&IT.

Some 23% of buyers surveyed said between a quarter and half of the destinations on their pitchlist will be new, with corporates such as Office Depot estimating 50% will be first-time options next year.  

Demonstrating creativity and keeping audiences engaged were among reasons cited for buyers seeking new up-and-coming destinations, the report revealed.  

Buyers named conferences, meetings and incentives as the events for which they were most likely to pitch an emerging destination, with 82% of buyers saying fam trips were key in leading them to consider somewhere new.
