Government department UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is planning a supplier day next month for agencies interested in bidding for events work for 2013 to 2015.

UKTI is planning to begin a procurement process next year for the delivery and management of its UK and overseas events programme for 2013 to 2015.

C&IT revealed last month that UKTI was planning to outsource the majority of its events work, with the loss of 23 of its in-house events staff.

Now, the department will hold a supplier day on 12 December, at One Birdcage Walk, in Westminster, to discuss the contract.

The final successful bidder will be responsible for delivering around 80% of work to UK customers through the UKTI HQ Events and Missions programme in the UK and overseas.

The programme covers inward missions, outward missions, UK sector events and overseas sector events.

The remaining 20% of services will be delivered through UKTI in-house events teams under existing framework agreements.

As part of the deal – which is valued at £6m to £8.5m, but will handle costs of around £30m - the appointed agency will design and manage the Events and Missions programme, including delegate logistics, as well as providing reporting information.
