A summer job led Nick into a career in event management. He worked as a sound and video technician, then joined DRP four years ago as a production manager, where he developed his passion for running live shows.
Boss says "Nick has become an integral part of the technical services team. His clients and peers describe him as an exceptional production manager with the ability to translate even the most ambitious creative ideas into reality both safely and on budget," says managing director Dale Parmenter.
Career high The Sainsbury’s conference in 2011. It took place at
the NEC and was for 5,500 delegates. It was a huge show that took three months to produce and looked absolutely stunning in the end.
Worst event moment An event for Thomas Cook in Egypt. We’d booked an outdoor venue in the desert for the opening night, but when we got there the day before, nothing worked. So we had to ship in kit from Cairo. It was a pretty long night, as you can imagine.
I wish I’d run… The Brit Awards. The set, the lighting – they’re incredible.
Alternative career My qualifications are in design, so it would be 3D design.
My next step Lead some large outdoor music events. It would be challenging because of the problems you face working outdoors and the sheer scale.
