Eco-focused hotel opens at East Midlands Conference Centre

The Orchard hotel has opened next to the East Midlands Conference Centre at the University of Nottingham.

The 202-room hotel has been constructed with sustainable design features including a green roof, photovoltaic solar panels and energy-efficient lighting, heating and ventilation systems.

Designed to complement the University of Nottingham-owned De Vere Venues East Midlands Conference Centre next door, the £20m hotel also includes four meeting rooms, a brasserie restaurant and gym.

De Vere Venues chief executive Tony Dangerfield said: "The Orchard Hotel is fantastic new addition to our portfolio representing a significant investment by the University in the city of Nottingham. This new beautiful hotel will make the East Midlands Conference Centre a complete, one stop venue to fulfil and exceed all our guests’ expectations."

An executive lounge, leading to an exclusive roof-top garden is reserved for guests in executive accommodation, while a separate mezzanine provides a space for private hire in the evening for up to 100.
