The Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club headquarters will be redeveloped with a new 1,000 delegate conference centre, and increased stadium capacity.
Plans for the site are set to be rubber stamped at an Exeter City Council planning meeting on Monday (29 October), with officials recommending approval for the proposed development.
The stadium will be increased in size from 10,744 seats to 20,600, and a new 1,000 seat conference centre will built.
There are also plans to extend existing facilities, which comprise four main spaces, including the Exeter Suite for up to 475 delegates.
Business clients using Sandy Park have included Rowan Dartington, which held its conference in July at the venue, and Centrax and Siemens.
A report from planning officers said the proposed conference centre "would enhance the conference venue offer available within the city", and is "vital to the successful operation of the rugby club and its continued success".
