Three European associations choose Edinburgh

Three major European associations have chosen Edinburgh to host their annual events in the next three years.

The 5th European Symposium of Porcine Health Management (ESPHM) will take place at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) in May 2013.

Edinburgh ambassador Dr Jill Thomson will be bringing this joint scientific meeting to Edinburgh organised by the Pig Veterinary Society (PVS) in conjunction with the European College and European Association of Porcine Health Management.

The PVS is one of the oldest dedicated Pig Veterinary Society’s in the world and will celebrate its 50th anniversary at ESPHM 2013.

The European Congress of Biotechnology will also take place at the EICC in 2014 following a successful bid against Krakow from Edinburgh ambassador, Professor Charlie Bryce.

The event is expected to attract 1,200 delegates.

The European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) will take place in Edinburgh in 2015 at the Assembly Rooms, following the venue’s major refurbishment this summer.

Ken Stewart from The Royal Hospital of Sick Kids led the bid after an unsuccessful attempt for 2014.

Around 500 delegates are expected to attend.
