A series of business events are being held this week in the capital around London Metal Exchange (LME) Week, which kicked off on Friday (12 October) and runs until 19 October.

Copper mining company KGHM hosted shareholders at a dinner event at the Troxy in east London last night (14 October).

A total of 600 delegates attended the event, which included dining options from 11 chefs, as well as entertainment from Polish jazz and soul band Blue Café.

Other businesses hosting events as part of LME Week include JP Morgan, which is running a lunch at Merchant Taylors’ Hall tomorrow (16 October), BNP Paribas, holding an event at the Mandarin Oriental on 17 October, and BHP Billiton, hosting a dinner at Claridge’s, also on 17 October.

The LME annual dinner is being held tomorrow (16 October) at the Grosvenor House Hotel, in Park Lane.

Founded in 1571 and one of the few exchanges left that employs "open outcry trading", the LME is owned by its members, which include banks such as Goldman Sachs and Barclays, and industry players such as London-based miner BHP.
