The seminar will be held on 8 November at St Peter’s Campus, with between 60-80 delegates expected to attend.

The seminar, aimed at both novice and experienced traders, forms part of a nationwide programme, intent on delivering practical knowledge about spread betting and contracts for difference.

It will be delivered by David Jones, IG’s chief market strategist, a respected market commentator and regular contributor to the BBC, Sky News, ITN, CNN, Bloomberg and CNBC.

Amanda Clarke, events manager for IG, said: "We are keen to support the UK’s universities and have found that the quality of their lecture theatres enables us to clearly demonstrate trading platforms, data and charts to our audiences. In the North East, we chose Unispace Sunderland chiefly because of its audio-visual and IT facilities and the tiered auditorium."

Sharon Olver, commercial services manager for Unispace Sunderland, added: "This contract win is a fantastic example of the strong qualities that academic venues can bring to an event. The St Peters Campus is comprised of three state of the art lecture theatres, one of which will be hosting this seminar. We are delighted that IG has chosen UniSpace Sunderland to host the North East segment of its programme and we look forward to welcoming them."
