The SFO spokesman told C&IT that the guidance – available via its website – is currently being updated, but it could not comment on what the new advice will be, or the extent of the changes planned.
Head of Eventia's regulation committee Brian Kirsch said that he would welcome moves to improve industry understanding of the Act, singling out facilitation payments and hospitality guidance as areas which could benefit from greater clarification.
"We don't want more restriction for the industry but we're all in favour of greater clarity. A major issue for the industry is how to deal with certain regional cultural payment practices while still ensuring you get your job done effectively," he added.
The SFO added: "We cannot speculate on what will replace the guidance at this stage. We are working to get the update out as quickly as possible," he added.
