The Crystal will officially open to the public on 29 September, but has already hosted a conference for 300 leaders from public bodies and architecture practices this week.

The Urban Planning for City Leaders conference was held at the venue at the Royal Victoria Docks in east London yesterday (20 September).

Meanwhile, the Crystal is hosting 400 delegates today (21 September) for the DLD Cities conference.

The centre – which includes a 2,760sqm exhibition hall and a 1,395sqm conference suite including a 270-seat auditorium – is available for corporate bookings. It has six meeting rooms on its first floor.

Siemens chief executive for infrastructure and cities sector Roland Busch said: "Siemens is establishing the Crystal in order to help find solutions for making the world’s cities more sustainable. It will serve as a centre for dialogue, learning and discovery."
