Meeting professionals predicted a 2.9% increase in the number of meetings next year, compared to last - up 3.3% in Canada and 3.2% in Europe and 2.8% in the US.
Elsewhere, better internet access in venues and hotels was listed as either the most or second-most demanded technology, but planners ranked it as the tenth most available and accessible solution.
Meeting professionals also anticipated that their events will be slightly shorter (by about 30 minutes on average) in the coming year, an hour shorter in Europe and 30 minutes shorter in the US.
MPI also found that deciding which technologies to use was an emerging problem for event planners as well as accommodating both face-to-face and technology-savvy delegates in one space.
Meanwhile, contract negotiations are becoming more complex, according to the report, as suppliers seek to minimise unallocated resources and planners seek to minimise wasted money.
