The certification, discussed by Coca-Cola in this C&IT video, was launched on 19 June and used by Locog during its planning for the 2012 Olympics.
The standard was developed following the success of event sustainability management system British Standard BS 8901 and comprises a framework for events that helps planners reduce costs, carbon emissions and waste.
Sharon Ward, Logistik’s corporate responsibility manager, said: "The move across to ISO 20121 came at a good time. We’ve been working on aligning our ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 systems for some time and this gave us the perfect framework. It’s taken us six years but we can now boast a fully integrated holistic approach aligned to our business plan and core activities. We can see some good improvement and employee engagement is high."
This year Logistik Group was also awarded three Business in The Community Awards and a silver ranking in the Environmental Index. "Logistik’s sustainability systems have reached full maturity in 2012. Everyone’s really got to grips with how they work, and we can now show both innovation and return on investment," said Dirk Mischendahl, Logistik Group's joint managing director.
