Corporate travel, meetings, events

Fife-based Equilibrium Travel Management (EQ), which specialises in clinical trials, corporate travel and conferences and events, is set to open an office in Boston, Massachusetts.

EQ already has two bases in Scotland – its Fife headquarters and a site in Lintmill, Banffshire, which focuses on the oil and gas sector.

Managing director Franc Jeffrey said: "It is a real coup for us to be able to establish ourselves in the US at such an early stage in our business - which is testament to the hard work our team has put in during the past nine months."

Recruitment

The current eight-strong UK team is expected to expand in the coming months, added Jeffrey, with around eight US recruits anticipated to join the business in September. Further growth is planned for early 2013.

Margaret Falconer was appointed as head of meetings and events in early 2012.

Business-ready

"It has always been a great ambition of mine for EQ to operate in the US and we have spent a significant amount of time and investment in ensuring that our Boston office is open and ready for business," said Jeffrey.

"Through my 25 years of experience in the corporate travel sector, and my previous role which saw me spending a great amount of time in the States where I have built up many contacts, we are confident that this move will be a success."

EQ is projecting profitability in its first year, through expansion into the North American market, a dedicated meetings and events service, clinical trials travel and expense management and building on the Scottish corporate travel market.
