Microsoft, Google and Samsung were among brands hosting meetings at the HKCEC between July 2011 and June 2012.

However, although the number of conferences increased, overall event figures dipped from 1,235 in 2010/11 to 1,224 in 2011/12.

A total of 5,629,410 visitors attended events - including exhibitions, conferences, banquets and seminars - at the HKCEC in 2011/12.

103 of the 116 exhibitions held over the period were recurring events, and 35 of these recurring exhibitions recorded double-digit growth in terms of gross exhibition space compared with their previous events.

Nine exhibitions were new business for HKCEC and included the Education UK Exhibition 2011 for The British Council in August 2011.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd (HML) is the private management company responsible for the venue management and daily operation of the HKCEC.

HML managing director Monica Lee-Müller said: "We take pride in attracting event organisers from around the world to Hong Kong. Their presence reaffirms that HML’s level of service delivery matches the highest international standards.

"Of the event organisers who responded to our event e-questionnaire, 99% rated the service they received ‘Satisfactory’ or better. This is a gratifying achievement given the vast range of events held at the HKCEC."
