Visit Berlin has attracted 8% more events to the German city in January to June 2012 than the same period the previous year.
A total of 57,800 events during the first half of 2012 were attended by 4.6m participants, 300,000 additional delegates on the previous year. They spent 3.1m nights in Berlin - an uplift of 3%.
Visit Berlin chief executive Burkhard Kieker said: "The growth during the first half-year has exceeded our expectations by far. Despite a difficult economic environment outside Germany, the international guests are remarkable growth drivers in Berlin."
More than 1.8m foreign visitors in total travelled to Berlin in January to June 2012, an increase of 12.8%.
"The stepping up of our convention acquisition efforts is paying off," added Kieker. "Berlin is number four on the international level amongst the cities with the highest number of association congresses, and for medical congresses Berlin is even number one."
