The automotive events market accounted for 10.7% of the top 50 UK agencies in 2011, down from 16.8% in 2010, as revealed in C&IT's Brand Book.

Despite this fall, the automotive industry itself is making something of a comeback – car production in 2011 was up 5.8% in 2011 on the previous year, according to Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders data.

Agencies and clients said that budgets continued to be under pressure, with less emphasis placed on "big whizzy productions".
