Goalen was previously venue-finding manager at the agency, overseeing a team of 11. In her new guise she will also take charge of a six-strong travel team.

Goalen joined the agency in 1996 as a project executive in venue finding, before being promoted to venue-finding manager after the merger of Universal Procon and World Events in March 2011.

Denise Abbott, Universal World Events’ UK country director, said: "Louise brings a wealth of industry experience to this new role, and we look forward to the continued development of both our venue finding and event travel departments.

"Both departments are areas of growth for Universal World Events as we recognise our clients’ requirements to have the full event management offering under one roof either from the perspective of a seamless service or from a SMMP one."

Last week, C&IT reported that Universal World Events has taken on four student placements as part of a new scheme.
