Pre-event planning: Car rental company Budget holds an annual conference and awards dinner for its EMEA employees, to update them on business developments and facilitate networking opportunities.

The theme for the three-day event in 2011 was 'Innovate, Differentiate and Accelerate'.

Challenges: Venuesworld.com was charged with meeting the combined needs of a very full conference programme with an exciting social programme that gave a flavour of Ireland.

Solution: Selecting the Druids Glen hotel as the conference venue enabled the agency to deliver on these two requirements. Its location in the county of Wicklow gave delegates an opportunity to experience the beautiful Irish scenery while within a short distance from Dublin airport.

On the first day, delegates had a choice of activities, including golf or a Dublin city sightseeing tour. The next two days involved a series of workshops and Q&A sessions, with a team-building event held on the afternoon of the second day. The hotel's extensive grounds enabled delegates to maximise time by providing the location for a team-building afternoon, while Powerscourt House, the venue for dinner on the second evening, was just ten minutes from the hotel.

Post-event analysis: Natasha Duckmanton, international franchise coordinator at Avis Budget EMEA, says the conference was hailed its best yet, with Druids Glen Hotel providing an exceptional location. "Powerscourt House was a spectacular venue for our off-site dinner and captivated our delegates," she says.
