Adnec group chief executive brings BA and Disney experience

Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (Adnec) has appointed Pieter Idenburg as group chief executive.

Idenburg will start the role on 1 August 2012. He has held senior management positions in organisations such as American Airlines, The Walt Disney Company and British Airways.

Most recently, Idenburg served as chief executive of Suntec Singapore Exhibition & Convention Centre, where he has worked since 2005.

Idenburg helmed events such as The IMF/ Worldbank Conference, APEC meetings and the first ever Youth Olympic Games.

Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, chairman of Adnec, said: "Pieter’s experience and industry knowledge will strengthen the organisation, and his appointment supports Adnec’s vision to be the most successful exhibition, conference and events centre in the region."

Idenburg added: "I am delighted to play a part in Adnec’s future in Abu Dhabi, the region and in the exhibition and convention industry as a whole. I am sure that my lifelong passion for service excellence will support Adnec to grow the business in line with its vision and values."

Idenburg’s appointment completes the restructure of Adnec’s senior leadership team.
