Planners from associations including the European Association of Urology and the International Association of Public Transport started the forum with a keynote by the European Society of Association Executives (ESAE) president Luc Maene on the importance of recognising diversity within an associations board.

Maene commented: "We need the board of an association to include a variety of people at different stages within an organisation. We need young people involved who will come and present a world view to the board. The chairman may have a very corporate view but you need this diversity."

The forum will continue with presentations from Panos Tzivanidis, head of travel and conferences Unit at UEFA, and Valerie Thiollet, the European Society of Cardiology’s head of sub-speciality congress management department.
