ICC Birmingham in sales restructure

The International Convention Centre (ICC) Birmingham has reorganised its sales team in a restructure that includes the appointment of James Elston as sales director.

Elston, the former senior commercial manager of Uttoxeter Racecourse, will lead the venue’s corporate and government sales team and drive new business. He effectivelty replaces incumbent sales director Liz Carnell, who is leaving the company in August "to pursue other projects".

The ICC Birmingham has split its sales department into two specialist teams: one dedicated to corporate and government contracts and the other to associations.

The latter is being headed up business development director by Catherine Newhall-Caiger, who has been with the ICC group for 24 years, most recently as sales director of ICC Dublin.

Paul Rutherford, ICC general manager, said: "We have been very fortunate at the ICC as we have managed to continue to be successful in a very challenging market place.

"However, we understand that in order to continue this success we need to adapt our services and engage with our clients to support them on the challenges they are facing as a result of the economic crisis."
