Ambassador programmes are already providing success in cities throughout the UK such as NewcastleGateshead, Edinburgh and Liverpool where they are bringing events, visitors and significant revenue to the area.

Kelly Vickers, Manager of Conference Cambridge, said: "Essentially we are looking for people to champion the benefits of Cambridge as a conference destination within their own work environment.

"In order to do this, we will help put together a compelling case to ensure that the bid to bring their event here is successful and work closely with them to deliver it.

"Being an Ambassador is a rewarding experience. Hosting a successful event can bring recognition for your organisation, your research or your business from a wide audience and in the process create essential networking opportunities that could lead to new partnerships and collaboration.

"Cambridge, as a destination, has an unrivalled range of venues and facilities, as well as excellent opportunities for leisure activities such as punting on the River Cam, dining in a Cambridge College and beautiful places to visit in the wider area."

As part of the launch at Girton College, Cambridge, a new DVD was shown which highlighted the benefits of choosing Cambridge and how the city’s international pull can attract delegates from all over the world.

Conference Cambridge is the official free venue-finding service for Cambridge University and the Colleges. It recently announced a series of successful bids to hold events in Cambridge over the next few years, which are collectively worth £1.2 million, a further £5 million to the local economy and will bring more than 2,800 delegates the city.
