The agency, which bought both awards off publisher How Do last November, has managed both events since their inception in 2007.
Laura Wolfe, Journey9's managing director, said: "Having been involved with the Northwest Football Awards in the past and with our current and growing work in the sports arena, getting involved in the event was a natural step for us.
"We have some big plans for growth and we are delighted to be working with HGA Creative to take the events to the next level."
The NWFA is supported by organisations including Fifa, The Professional Footballers’ Association and The Football Foundation. Nearly 450 guests attended last November's event, when Goal of the Year was awarded to Wayne Rooney.
Ian Grime, HGA's director of live events, said: "Journey9 approached us with an outline of their plans to develop these events.
"It was clear that Laura and her team had skills to complement our own and that by working together we could make the events an even bigger success. We are very excited about the partnership."
The NWFA 2012 will take place at The Point at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Monday 12 November.
