The industry has remained robust with the number of international association meetings rising to 376,581 since last year.
The increase from 359,673 in the 2011 report can partly be attributed to a 5 per cent increase in the number of those in the UIA database.
A total of 333,329 people were surveyed from 1,309 cities across the world.

The statistics are based on information systematically collected by the UIA Congress Department and selected according to strict criteria maintained over the years.
For the past 63 years, the Union of International Associations (UIA) has undertaken statistical studies on the preceding year’s international meetings.
The report is also available for sale to the public following a period of three months’ exclusive use by UIA Associate Members; it will be available to non-members from September 2012.
