Spawned from a collaboration between leading healthcare and life science companies, the accreditation draws on guidelines issued by various UK healthcare regulatory bodies.

Compliant Venues is led by Mark Handforth and Caroline Hill, both of whom have held senior positions in corporate companies such as Roche and Cisco also senior executive positions with agencies Grass Roots and Universal World Events.

Handforth said: "Having been involved at the sharp end of compliance policy whilst working for a Healthcare company, it was clear that venue selection was key in not just being compliant, but being seen to be compliant. There are some wrong impressions out there on how the Healthcare sector uses events and a clear metric supports meeting stakeholders and the supply chain in making robust decisions with lowered risk".

Jane Baker, business development director at CWT Meetings & Events, said: "We are delighted to support Compliant Venues and to have participated in the working party groups. As our pharma clients work to abide by the ABPI code, we are confident that the Compliant Venues certification will help both our clients and our venue partners deliver compliant meetings and events."

Compliant Venues is supported by IHG, the De Vere Group and Radisson SAS as well as event management agencies, Banks Sadler, CWT, and Zibrant.
