The event takes place at Age UK Northumberland in Ashington on 13 June from 6pm to 8pm and is free to attend.

It will feature a presentation on how businesses in Morpeth, Bedlington, Cramlington, Ponteland, Blyth and Ashington can access download speeds of up to 80mbs per second and upload speeds of up to 20mbs per second.

Mark Stephenson, a policy advisor at NECC, said: A recent report demonstrated how super-fast broadband can help improve the performance of existing firms, enable new businesses to emerge and encourage flexible working.

"It is an important tool for businesses in rural areas to open up global markets, provide new job opportunities and to boost productivity at a local level."
