The event, which will run between 12 and 14 June, will be attended by 150 business leaders and policy makers, who will discuss how businesses can work together to achieve more sustainable and efficient use of resources.
The conference will be formally opened by Janez Potocnik, European Commissioner for the environment, and will feature plenary session and workshops.
IWCAIS is organised by Birmingham-based International Synergies. Its chief executive, Peter Laybourn, said: "Birmingham is the birthplace of the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme, the world's largest and most successful example of the practical implementation of industrial symbiosis and International Synergies' most celebrated project to date. So it seemed only right for Birmingham to be the ideal venue for IWCAIS 2012."
