21% of events not incorporating social media

C&IT's State of the Industry report has revealed that 21% of planners say their events will have no social media aspects.

C&IT surveyed 60 corporate event planners about their social media use, and while almost a quarter (23%) said 100% of their events would incorporate social media elements in 2012, almost as many (21%) said that none of their events would use social media this year, with the rest of the responses ranging between 5% and 95%.

When asked how much time they spend on social media for work purposes every week, the answers also varied widely. A fifth (21%) of corporate event planners who responded said they do not dedicate any time to social media, some spend as little as 15 minutes, while others spend up to ten hours, but the average time spent is around two hours a week.
