Managing director Mark Riches said the First Protocol name has been registered in Singapore and the office will be operational by the end of May.

Craig Pugh, account director in the UK office, is moving to Singapore and Riches says the agency is currently finalising sending a member of the Manhattan office to join him in setting up the operation.

"We need to be there because our clients are demanding our presence in Asia," said Riches. "We're not just planning to open one office either, but have ambitions to have a presence in other destinations as well. We're currently looking into the feasibility of offices in Hong Kong and mainland China."

The Asia launch comes at the same time as the agency moves its London office into a larger space just down the road from its existing base. "We're doubling the size of the London office to allow room for growth," said Riches.

Last year, First Protocol doubled the size of its New York office and also launched a satellite operation in LA.

The agency has increased its headcount by 38 over the past 12 months and expects to add a further 20 to staff numbers in the 2011-12 financial year.
