Standalone conference planned for Confex 2011

International Confex is hoping to attract an additional 150 association buyers to this year's show.

Show organisers have unveiled plans to host a standalone conference as part of the inaugural Association Day on the first day of International Confex, which will take place at Earl's Court from 1 to 3 March.

The educational content of the conference is being developed by an advisory panel of association experts. Panellists include Joel Fischer, head of the Union of International Associations congress department, Euan Woodward, director of congresses and education for the European Association for the Study of Obesity, and Sarah Fitzpatrick, managing director, Congrex UK.

Confex International portfolio director Jonny Sullens said: "We are looking to get under the skin of the real issues facing association event organisers and impart knowledge from a wide selection of speakers."

Some 1,000 association representatives already attend the three-day show. Visit Britain is also aligning its Discovery Programme with this year's event to deliver a further 125 association buyers. The Association Day is being supported by business development, sponsorship and marketing communications agency Brandivity.
